JOB DESCRIPTION: RETAIL RELIEF ASSISTANT
Travel to various shops according to company needs to cover staff days off and unplanned absences. This role would suit someone who likes variety. Your rostered shifts will be published two weeks in advance.
CUSTOMERS
Give consistently good customer service – it is our aim that EVERY customer leaves our shops satisfied EVERY time.
- Acknowledge the customer immediately – be friendly, helpful and smile
- Relay any information back to your Retail Manager regarding any customer concerns or queries.
- Always endeavour to answer the phone within 4 rings in your shop.
- Build on a community inside your shop as well as outside
TEAM WORK
Contribute to the efficient running of the shop – make good use of your time and work well with the rest of the team.
- Work as a team serving customers, selling freshly baked products, preparing sandwich fillings, checking goods in (if asked), displaying goods, displaying price tickets, washing up, cleaning the counters and shelves, sweeping up, refreshing and filling up all displays from the drinks fridge to crisp basket, making up boxes, filling up bag hooks and generally keeping the shop and kitchen area clean, tidy and hygienic at all times.
- Have a good attitude – be responsible; conscientious; professional; committed; cooperative; cheerful; polite; positive; motivated and proactive. Set an example to other members of staff.
- Take care and pride in what you do.
MONEY
Handle money responsibly and accurately so that there is consistent accuracy of the till.
- Keeping up levels of change in the till.
- Security – if applicable to you – ensure money, keys and premises are secure and safe.
- Counting money daily before banking
PRODUCTS
Know our products, how to serve them, how to display them and understand the importance of stock rotation and waste control.
- Know what all the products are called and what category (on the till) they belong to.
- Make sure price tickets are always displayed on all the products and you charge the correct price for all goods to all customers.
- Rotation of stock
- Ensure no stale or bad goods are sold.
- Waste control
- Display the goods to their best advantage under the guidance of your Manager.
- Upselling all products on offer, including hot drinks and daily offers
- Keep all goods fresh
- Suggest ideas for new lines and promotions.
ADMIN & PROCEDURES
- Keeping on top of paperwork for ordering
- Meeting the necessary food safety standard requirements
- Daily temperature checks
CLEANLINESS AND HYGIENE
Help keep the workplace clean, tidy and hygienic.
- Be aware of basic food hygiene rules.
- Help with all the cleaning jobs both in the shop and in the kitchen.
- Must have good personal hygiene at all times, ensuring your appearance is neat and tidy.
